sophie 21 Free Sophie fabric for tutorials!

I found something really cool on the internet and I am hoping you all are game to give it a try with me. There is a neat website called Totally Tutorials that plays matchmaker between producers like Clothworks and crafty sewers/makers like you. We provide fabric shipped to your door and you put together a free tutorial using our products (we hope that will be some of you!). Basically we’ll do a sign up here and I will randomly draw 6 people out of a hat to be the tutorial makers, send you all the fabric and then you’ll be on the hook to make some kind of tutorial on your blog or elsewhere.

IF you’re unsure how to make a tutorial, here is a pretty good how-to by ArtMind. Totally Tutorials also has a link to a long page of tutorials that have been published and you can check some of those out to see how folks do it. And here is a link to an enormously simple yet beautiful tutorial to inspire you even further! So, if you’re curious, but green, go ahead and sign up and I bet you’ll be able to do it on your own. And if you can’t, I am sure we can work SOMETHING out!

sophie 1 Free Sophie fabric for tutorials!

So, let’s get to the meat of the sandwich here. I’ve got a big stack of fat quarter packs: 6 packs, each containing 9 fat quarters of a collection called Sophie. It’s pretty stinkin’ cute and has a featured pattern by Anita Peluso in Fons + Porter for some eye candy. All the fabrics are shown above and you can also head to our website to see all the other bits of Sophie if you’re curious. The tutorial itself can pretty much be anything that you make yourself AND that could explain to others online. If you have a sewing idea, do it! If you have a collage idea, do it! Just make sure to take pictures and put together directions for your/our readers. For even more ideas about tutorials, head to our Pinterest page. We’ve got several boards dedicated to tutorials and how-to’s. If you win, you’l have one month from the date your receive your goods to create and publish your tutorial on the web. To enter, we’re gonna use Rafflecopter so I can keep track of everyone and not get bogged down by counting comment numbers and cross-checking and other things involving a calculator! Scroll down to see the entry form. You don’t need to know what you will make in order to sign up–you can fill in that blank later! We just want you to sign on and then let the creative juices flow.

I hope this is fun. The added benefit is that if you are an aspiring, designer, blogger or the like, we will gladly promote you on all our social media once your tutorial is published.

Click here to sign up on Rafflecopter

Here are the official rules:
1. Only US residents
2. Contest ends 5/30 at midnight
3. One fat quarter pack containing 9 fat quarters will be awarded to 6 entrants. Entrants must agree to create a tutorial using the products and post it within 1 month of receiving their goods.

Thanks for playing!!

Everyday Organic Solids giveaway quilt market BLOG Quilt Market Everyday Organic Solids Giveaway from Clothworks
I’m always really excited to share about what is happening with Clothworks and all the folks we work with for Quilt Market but it is also bittersweet. Most of you readers and sewers will never go to Market because it is a tradeshow for the industry and if you don’t own or work for a company in this category, you aren’t able to come in. So, in honor of Quilt Market, I would like to start a tradition of doing giveaways that EVERYONE can enter.

EOS village BLOG Quilt Market Everyday Organic Solids Giveaway from Clothworks
For this giveaway, I’d like to highlight the fact that our Everyday Organic Solids line has grown to look like a full rainbow. I have been eagerly awaiting this day because nothing gets me like a stack of fabric organized in rainbow color order–or anything rainbow for that matter. Book shelves, laundry and Legos work, too. For our purposes, though, it’s fabric. It’s a huge pile of 22 fat quarters of our lovely Everyday Organic Solids that are soft like butter and sew beautifully–and there will be 2 winners. I just made a dress out of the stuff (you can see it on Pinterest) and will shortly be posting a free pattern for a rainbow grocery tote with an upcycled denim bottom (get a sneak peek here). But I digress. As usual, this giveaway requires one thing. This time, I would like you to sign up for our newsletter. It comes fairly infrequently (it was meant to be monthly, but that has proven hard to maintain) but it always announces something really fun like a giveaway, new collections AND free patterns / tutorials. If you’ve already signed up for this, give it a try anyway because we just changed mail services and it might do us some good to get an updated address for you. And finally, please share this on Facebook to let your friends know there is a tower of gorgeously soft solids awaiting them if they win. The link to sign up to our newsletter is below, so please click on it and enter! If you are absolutely sure that you are already on our mailing list, go ahead and leave a comment here and I can check your address on our list and enter you that way.

Subscribe to our newsletter!

Other rules:
1. Contest is only open to US residents. (Sorry internationals! We have had lots of trouble shipping your goods and they often come back at additional cost.)
2. If you are sure that you are already subscribed to our newsletter, but still want to enter, please leave a comment on this blog post and I will make sure your name gets in the hat!
3. Contest ends Monday, May 20th at the stroke of midnight!
4. Share this on Facebook!
5. There are two stacks to give away. 2 STACKS!! YEA!

flowering around quilt kit giveaway blog banner Quilt Kit Giveaway for Spring

>CONTEST CLOSED–Winner is Angela F. Thanks all for entering!!!

Hi All,
I just got wind of a really darling pattern using Clothworks fabric and thought, that’s cause for a giveaway! Meags ‘n’ Me has created a super pattern using Flowering Around by Beach Garden Quilts + Studio. Meags ‘n’ Me have been featured here before because they have a handful of patterns that use Clothworks fabric AND they also have a stack of other really great patterns for sale on their website. In particular, they do a really sweet block of the month called Squeal of which I’ve heard countless positive reviews. This pattern, Blossoms, celebrates spring with a flower-ish pinwheel pattern for each block and the kit we are giving away is plenty of fabric to make a baby quilt top.

The collection, Flowering Around, comes from some local Northwest Gals who live on Bainbridge Island and they were even featured recently in the local paper there. The collection is pretty hot off the press, so if you’re looking for something springy and light, stores have got this on their shelves. Here is a screen shot of the full collection.

Hi! I’m Amanda from Threadbias, and I’m so excited to be visiting the Clothworks blog. Before I tell you all about Threadbias, I’ll start with some introductions. Threadbias is truly a family company. It’s made up of my brother, Alex (our CEO), his wife Rebecca, and myself. Although we live in separate cities, Rebecca and I have been working “together” on sewing projects for years. We both learned to sew when we were young, and as we started sewing and quilting more regularly, we found we loved to talk and bounce ideas off of each other.

Alex is a web developer, and one day, he approached us with his big idea – a web-based tool for designing and planning quilts. As quilters, we were thrilled, and could not wait to get started. From those plans, the idea for a community grew. We envisioned a place where all quilters and sewists could gather, share their work, and be inspired by what others were making.

With a lot of work and planning, Threadbias is becoming exactly what we had hoped for! We are celebrating our One Year Anniversary this week, and over the past year we have watched the community grow to over 5000 members and over 5000 projects, with more every day. Our database of fabric swatches has 75,000 swatches to “stash” in your own studio. We love being a part of a community that grows larger all the time but somehow still seems welcoming – thanks to the wonderful people who have joined the site and made Threadbias their online “home” for sewing.

In addition to the thriving community, the Quilt Design Tool is now live! We launched the tool this February in Austin, Texas, at QuiltCon; we also just completed an amazing blog tour with a dozen designers and bloggers who shared their designs and tips for for using the tool. Since its launch, Alex has added even more features to make the tool more functional and fun to use. You can even use the fabrics in our database to plan your quilts and see what they’ll look like! I love using it to plan quilts, “sketch” ideas, and just have fun playing with my virtual stash. I put together this quilt using Clothworks Everyday Organics solids. The fabrics feel lovely and have such vibrant colors, and it’s great to be able to see how it will all look before I make it. You can try it for free today on a 9” x 9” workspace.

As I mentioned earlier, we are super excited to be celebrating our one year anniversary over on the Threadbias blog. We have several great prizes to give away, including TWO bundles of the gorgeous Everyday Organics Solids, generously donated by Clothworks! Stop by the blog for a chance to win!

Blue morning Iron orchid desings dress4 Blue Morning Monday + FQ Giveaway!
Good morning everyone and welcome to the first of three Blue Morning Mondays! My name is Sally Griswold and I’m the better half of Iron Orchid Designs aka IOD. My sister (the other half) might disagree but one who does not participate in blog posts does not get to object.

Let me just say that I cannot tell you how excited we are to be designing for Clothworks! It’s been a dream of ours for a long time to see our designs in fabric but we never imagined it would be with such a stellar company as Clothworks! Blue Morning is our very first line with Clothworks, but we have been designing in the paper crafting world for many years now and are blessed to also have a line of home decor and art in stores like Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohls, Kirklands, Homegoods, Target etc. If you want to know more about us, feel free to read our bio and see our other collections here, or take a jaunt over to our humble little home on the web here.

On to what you really came here for and that is FABRIC LOVE! To start off our Blue Morning Mondays we have a very special little project as well as a way you can get your hot little hands on some Blue Morning yourselves!

First, the project. I guess you might call this a guest with guests post?  I have a couple of friends who are amazingly talented and I wanted to include them in the fun. Besides, many hands make for light work right?

I give you my daughter Phoebe wearing the “Flouncy Tiered Dress” over the “Sweet Petticoat Slip Dress” designed by my friend Kate of Monkey’s Bug Patterns and sewn by another talented friend, Jennifer of Alli’s Auntie Designs. The adorable hat is Jennifer’s addition. Please take a minute to go check out their designs. They’re just absolute loveliness!

As promised, a chance to secure for yourself some of the fabric loveliness you see above. We are giving away 2 sets of the whole Blue Morning line in fat quarters!

Blue morning Iron orchid desings FQ1 Blue Morning Monday + FQ Giveaway!

Here is how it works. First, post a comment here (on this blog post) letting us know what fun project you plan to make with the Blue Morning fabric if you win or what you love about the fabric. That counts as one enry. To enter again, go like IOD’s facebook page and come back here and post again letting us know you “liked” the page. That counts as another entry… ( each comment is an entry, you’re getting the picture!) to make sure the contest is fair and to differentiate between entries and other comments, please post ENTRY before any qualifying comment. If you just want to comment for fun feel free too, just don’t put ENTRY. For a third entry head on over to the IOD blog and leave a comment there as well! Those comments will be counted seperately for the second set of fat quarters! So many chances to win, we will announce the winners on our next “Blue Morning Monday” post on February 18th! God blessings to you all this week!

Oh my!! There was an enormous response to this giveaway!! Thank you all so much for participating. IF I had known, I would have put together more than one prize, but I’ll have to just learn from it and do that next time! In the mean time, if you all liked that pattern, please head over to Meags n Me and order one. They have a bunch of other darling patterns on their site, too, so you just might find yourself buying more than one. And, you can certainly find Hug Me in shops or online if you’re in search of some Valentine goodness!

So, the lucky winner is Sheila, and I picked that number with a random number generator. You can see it all below.

kiss me quilt giveaway2 Valentine Quilt Kit Giveaway!
It’s about time for Valentine’s Day to roll around. I can’t get enough of that holiday. I love red and pink. I love hearts, candy, sweetness and all that comes with it. And, for any naysayers, it’s not just for people in love–my favorite Valentines come from my Mom! The day will be here before we know it, so I know this kit is a little late to get done for Valentine’s Day proper, but if you hustle, you might be able to get it done. You’ll get a big stack of Hug Me fabric by Sue Zipkin and a pattern to sew it all up called Kiss Me by Meags and Me. All you’ve gotta do is leave a comment here and if you’ve got an account, share this post on Facebook to give all your friends a chance to win, too! Contest ends next Tuesday, January 30th, at midnight.

Here’s what you’ll get:

Kiss Me Quilt Cover copy1 Valentine Quilt Kit Giveaway!
A kit with some extra to make the lovely Kiss Me quilt in baby size (though you could probably squeeze a twin out if you supplement it with some of your own bits and pieces) and the pattern from Meags and Me! Thanks so much to the gals at Meags and Me for inspiring the giveaway with their gorgeous quilt design and generous gift of a hot-off-the-press pattern! These gals are great. You might want to peep their website where they sell other quilt patterns, many including hand-drawn needlework patterns, too! Thanks ladies! You’re wonderful and keep up the darling work!

Here’s the quilt all made up! Awesome!
