Thanks to Purl Soho’s blog, The Purl Bee, I bring you, Gypsy drawstring bags. These are seriously easy. They took me under and hour to make 4!! I have made a few drawstring bags in my day, but every time I do it, I always do something weird that makes it hard to run the drawstring through or the edges look junky and exposed. So, I was so happy to have the Purl Bee just tell me what to do. I followed their directions to the letter and they were so easy and the bags look great. They offer cutting instructions for 5 sizes. The sizes in bold below are the ones I chose.
6-inch wide by 12-inch long
9-inch wide by 18-inch long
12-inch wide by 24-inch long
15-inch wide by 30-inch long
18-inch wide by 36-inch long
For the drawstrings, I used the ribbon that usually comes tied around a fat quarter pack. I know many of you have a little stash of these from your purchases–time to use them up!! They work great, though I also like what the purl bee chose, I just didn’t have any of that on hand!
Happy sewing and thanks again Purl Bee!!
