Lisa, a gal from the design team, passed this cool tool along. I have to admit, I have been seeing these photos with paint chips next to them for a while on Pinterest, but didn’t look into how they were generated. But, I wanted to share it with you because it seems like a fun way to build your quilt planning / idea board. Here’s what I did. I took the picture of scraps for our Scrappy Quilters Dream Giveaway (the post just below this one) to see what Let’s Chip It! would do with a pile of mismatched stuff. It made an awesome, complementary palette! Okay, so I have to admit, I was sort of like–Why would I use this?–and now I see how cool it can be. You could take any ol’ pile of scraps (I’m obviously on a scrappy tip), shoot a quick photo on your smart phone, put it into Let’s Chip It! and then use the palette to pick solids that coordinate with your scraps. Woah!! Are you seeing what I mean? If you want help on complementary colors or just a fun way to program a project, Let’s Chip It! looks pretty good. And, that’s enough unpaid product placement for today! Enjoy!

Cool is right!
So many uses…and not just for quilts. My brain is spinning.
