I couldn’t decide if this should be called “Win a quilt for your favorite charity” or “The Great Quilt Giveaway” because it is all about getting the beautiful quilts we have here at Clothworks into the hands of folks who need them. As a fabric maker, we have quite a few quilts made for us. Sometimes they stay with the designers and sometimes the quilt makers and other times they stay at Clothworks. A while back we gave a big load of quilts to tsunami relief efforts in Japan, but in the last year or two, our conference room is oddly cozy and at times hard to navigate if you catch my drift. So, we need your help. We’re starting a giveaway as part of Give a Stitch, our donation program. It’s a quarterly donation of quilts to charities and service organizations with a little bit of a fun contest twist. Every couple of months we will donate 5-8 quilts or other home-made goodies that can be given to someone in need or they could serve as auction items/sale items for fundraisers and the like. To launch this effort, we’re going all out and giving away 14 gorgeous quilts! We want folks to be able to choose which ones they like best and we thought Pinterest would allow us to vote and share very easily. For those of you not on Pinterest yet, this is a great time to get in there and try it. I bet you’ll like it! So, here’s how this works! (PS–The quilts are all shown at the bottom of this post if you need a little eye candy to get you going!)

HOW TO ENTER

  • Step 1:
Follow the Clothworks Great Quilt Giveaway board
on Pinterest AND pin the above image to one of your boards. You can click here to get to that board AND see this image there. New to pinterest? Here is a link to get you started on how it works and what to do.
    Step 2:
    Pick your favorite quilts
from the “Clothworks Great Quilts Giveaway Board” and “repin” them onto one of your boards. Leave a comment here with the URL for your board. For each quilt you repin, be sure to add #Clothworksquiltgiveaway in the comments so we can find your pin! Here’s a visual to help you:

    Step 3:
Think about what charity or service organization you would like to give your quilts to if you win–share this post with them and they can help you get more pins.
Enlist your friends and work together to win a quilt for a cause you love and want to help. This is going to take some teamwork, so get ready for some sharing and emailing. Once you’ve done your pinning, let us know in the comments section below to be entered.
    Step 4:
7 people will be chosen at random to choose two quilts to donate to their favorite charity or service organization. And, one pinner will also win a box of beautiful Laurel Burch signature thread!

  • Laurel Burch Aurifil Thread MK50SB10 Clothworks Great Quilt Giveaway: Pin it to Give it! Thanks for playing along!
Contest ends Thursday, November 29th at midnight PT.
    Fine Print:
We’re not specifying that a charity of service organization has to be 501c3 or anything like that. We are just assuming that you folks are honest and will pick places/people that are really in need. If you win, we’ll ask you for the address of the recipient and send directly to them with a note saying that the quilts are given in your name. If you have special circumstances, we can figure out a different way to get the quilts where they need to go.

What a great idea — I am chairman of Quilts for Giving in Coos County ( Coos Bay, Oregon). We provide quilts to pediatrics, hospice, palitive care, & others – about 35 quilts a month leave the workshop. We survive on donations & quilt raffles to keep us in batting, thread, fabric, etc. I love to see others give to charities – there are
so many people in need it’s hard to help everyone.

I love this idea! I would love to win quilts for the Bucyrus Backpack Program. They fill backpacks with food for hungry school children to eat on weekends.

I’d love to see these quilts go to the Superstorm Sandy victims. I am an area coordinator for Binky Patrol http://www.binkypatrol.org and we are collecting as many quilts for the kids in NY and NJ.

The quilts are all beautiful and I think they should be sent to Hurricane Sandy victims. The holiday season is upon us and some of them have so little….
